Documents Checklist for Schengen Visitor Visa

Planning to visit family or friends in a Schengen country? Here’s a complete checklist of the required documents for a smooth visa application process:

Mandatory Documents:

Original Passport – Must be valid for at least six (06) months from the date of travel, with at least two (02) blank pages. Old passports (if any) must also be submitted.
Photographs– Two (02) recent passport-size color photos (35mm x 45mm, white background, matte finish, 80% face coverage).
Schengen Visa Application Form – Duly filled and signed.
Cover Letter – A letter stating the purpose of visit, duration of stay, and relationship with the host.
Flight Reservation – Confirmed round-trip flight tickets.
Travel Insurance – Coverage of at least EUR 30,000, valid for all Schengen countries.
Proof of Accommodation – Hotel booking confirmation OR an Invitation Letter from the host.

Important Notes:

Personal submission at the VFS Schengen Visa Center is mandatory.
Visa fees are non-refundable if the visa is refused.
Applicants must provide biometric data (fingerprints) at the time of submission (ensure no cuts, mehendi, or scratches on fingers).
Visa fees and processing times are subject to change without prior notice.
Minors (below 18 years) are exempt from visa fees but must pay the VFS service charge.
